[ THE ORIGINS & THE REBELLION ]

ManadoGhost started around 2018. We were a group of guys from across 
Sulawesi, not just Manado. Back then, we were mostly messing around in 
the blackhat scene. We broke into things simply because it was fun and 
we wanted to see if we could. It was just kids doing what they wanted 
in the early days.

As things progressed, we wanted to cast a wider net. For a while, 
ManadoGhost evolved and operated under the name RebellionGhost. The 
idea was to expand beyond our local roots. Under that banner, we actually 
brought in some solid talent, including two hackers from Brazil and a few 
more guys from Manado and Palu. It was a bigger crew, but the foundation-
the core of it all-was always ManadoGhost.

By the early 2020s, things naturally slowed down. We got bored, life 
happened, and the group basically went completely silent. 

In 2026, one of the original guys decided to bring the original name back. 
But the goal is different now. The thrill of just breaking things is gone. 
Now, we're more interested in actual security research, understanding 
how things work under the hood, and keeping a low profile.


[ WHY MANADO? ]

People usually look to the capital or the big tech hubs when they think 
of cybersecurity or digital undergrounds. Manado is off the radar. It is 
the edge of the map. And that was exactly our advantage. 

Growing up in North Sulawesi meant we operated far from the mainstream 
noise. No one expects a critical system anomaly to originate from here. 
We didn't have the spotlight, which forced us to be resourceful, quiet, 
and sharp. It turns out, the periphery is the perfect breeding ground 
for something unseen. 


[ THE IMPOSTORS ]

We also need to clear the air about something. Over the years, some 
people have tried to claim the ManadoGhost name or spin it off into 
generic groups with names adding "Cyber Team", "Cyber Sec", or whatever 
trends they see fit.

Let's be completely clear: we have absolutely nothing to do with those 
clowns. 

Most of them are just 12 to 16-year-old kids who got hyped up after 
watching edgy hacking videos with Anonymous or clown masks on the internet. 
We aren't part of that movement, and we don't associate with script 
kiddies playing dress-up on social media. We do our own thing.


[ WHY "GHOST"? ]

It's nothing deep. A ghost is just something you can't see but you know 
is there. People always talk about ghosts everywhere you go. For us, it 
just means doing our work quietly in the background without needing the 
spotlight, the fame, or the masks. 

Nothing special, just moving forward.
